Introduction

After keeping a Journal-like blog on tumblr for over a year now I decided it was time to broaden my horizons a bit. I am not going to stop writing in my personal blog but I am starting a new blog on here for posts that are well, less personal. I hope to make posts about shopping/thrifting, DIY projects, my outfits, things/people that inspire me, reviews and all that jazz you usually expect to see on a blog.

I wouldn't consider myself a particularly interesting person but we'll see how this goes.
I'm 16, I live on the North-Shore of Sydney, Australia and I am attending my last year of high school. I study art, textiles, music, studies of religion and English. Some of my hobbies include painting/drawing, photography, sewing, singing, playing guitar, reading, thrifting and, well blogging obviously.

I have a pretty eclectic taste (or as I like to call it; bipolar) in most things.
As far as fashion goes I like lots of j-fashion styles and brands, punk, haute-goth/macabre, cyber goth, rockabilly/psychobilly but my own sense of style really comes from whatever clothing I can get my grubby little hands on. I frequent thrift stores and sale racks and that is really where the majority of my wardrobe comes from. Thrifting started off as a way of saving money but it's become more and more because I love old and unusual things. I also occasionally sew clothing for myself when I can find the time (and the effort). I grew up with the benefit of a mother who sewed beautiful dresses for me and who is now teaching me everything she knows about sewing.
My taste in music is also very broad. Growing up with 3 major figures in my life (my mother, father and older brother), all with their own individual taste in music has most definitely shaped my own taste in music. I've loved many old-school metal bands for as long as I can remember (I used to be obsessed with KISS through the ages of 4-8) as well as folk artists such as Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, Paul Kelly and Joni Mitchell. Through my brother's influence I grew fond of bands such as The Living End (who ended  up being my first concert!), Green Day and The Offspring. Now since first 'getting into' music my music taste has of course broadened a lot more but if you're really interested in what I'm currently listening to you can head on over to my last.fm
I've always had a passion for literature. I read like a maniac as a child and often stayed up to absurd hours reading by torch light. I started reading adult literature still in primary school, thirsty for something with more depth of character and thicker plot lines. My current favorite author is Anne Rice mainly because the characters she constructs are always so multi-faceted and her focus on the mental reactions to everything and thought processes of her characters always leave me in awe. More than a couple of times I've found myself completely infatuated with her characters.

I have been inspired by so many women who have made something of themselves simply through expressing what they were gifted with in life through the internet, and though it may sound egotistical and arrogant to say I think that I could be anything like them, I honestly think I have something worth sharing. There is a voice within me that simply wont be quiet and although a lot of things I say and write really are just drivel I do think I have some important things to say and messages to spread behind it all. Now this blog isn't going to be all rants about morality and political issues and such but I do hope it's not going to be all about materialistic things and my own mundane life.

Anyway, I really don't know what else to say for now. Hope you have a lovely day wherever you are in the world
